For the last 25 years, SYATP has been an opportunity for students around the United States to fellowship together in a time of prayer and worship. This student initiated event began in Texas in 1990 by a church youth group. More information is available at See You at the Pole website.
Leadership advisor Robert Foshee shares about the privilege of having this event at on campus and the benefit it is for our students.
“SYATP is a nationwide student led time for students to join together to pray for their school, city and country,” Foshee said. “It is a time to step out and not just be at school but come early and worship together and pray together.”
However, not all students are sure they will attend the event, including freshman Harjot Chhina.
“I haven’t been to this yet, but I think I could like it because it is about prayer,” Chhina said. “But I think I could also dislike it because I am not a Christian. I am Punjabi, and I believe in a different way of getting to God than other people do.”

Wanting to sleep in rather than wake up in the early morning, Morgan Miller, ’16, decides it is a better use of her time to not attend SYATP.
“I think See You at The Pole is a great thing to participate in, if you have the time,” Miller said. “But for me personally I am really tired and the senior year has been harder than I thought it would be. I don’t want to stress myself out any further by waking up early.”
Reece Trevino, ‘19, shares his reason for going to SYATP and why other people should go, too.
“I think people should go to SYATP to pray about the needs of their school and pray about the needs of their country and needs all over the world; everyone needs prayer,” Trevino said. “I think that my favorite part about it is praying with my friends and getting in touch with God and with everyone else there. I think everyone should go because everyone needs this encouragement.”
