Sadies is one of the most fun activities at school due to its low cost. But if it were to become expensive, it would become less enjoyable because the financial stress it would place on many students.
The Feb. 18 article in The Feather, “”Sadie Hawkins date set, cost undetermined”” by Chris White, ’05, descibes a potentially more expensive Sadies. More and more students on campus are stuck paying for their activities now, whereas before their parents were footing the bills.
If Sadies were to cost the same amount as a formal or prom, fewer students will skip the event. By having Sadies in Santa Cruz this year, fewer students will attend because of the greater expense, making the event less exciting.
If the event were held in Fresno, a more of the student body would attend. An sample itinerary could include going to Boomers and then bowling. The students paying for it could enjoy a lower cost while still having a great time.
