The most awaited week of the whole school year is almost here. Many memorable activities to energize students are being finalized by student leadership. This year marks the 31st annual Homecoming; the traditional float building, dress up days, pageants, spirit rally and football game will all focus around the weekly theme of “Homecoming from around the world!” from Oct. 13-16.
Each day of the week will be a separate dress up day, the amount of students from each class that dressed up will receive points to win a prize. This month being Socktober (an awarness month to gather socks for the homeless), a competition for each class to bring in the most socks will take place. The socks brought in will go towards the point system for each class, the prize being a pizza party.
At the football game Oct. 16, each class’ themed float will be on display and judged. The seniors will create a Venice, Italy float, the juniors will create a Hawaii float, the sophomores will create a Canada float and the freshmen will create a Paris, France themed float. The homecoming court winners will be announced during halftime with the return of FC alumni.
Freshman Alina Ochoa shares what she is looking forward to for her first year of homecoming as a high school student.
“This is my first year dressing up,” Ochoa said. “I am most looking forward to jet lag day so that I can dress up in my pajamas. I want our class to be involved too so that we can win points for a prize.”
Junior William Vanderkooi reveals what he anticipates for dress up days for this years homecoming theme of traveling around the world.
“I am excited for our class to wear all white on friday,” Vanderkooi said. “This is a chance for our class to come together and get pumped for the rally. I think it will be fun for all the classes to wear different colors that make up our school colors.”
