All things change in time, and this is made evident during a new school year. As a new year begins; new students, new rules, and new staff all come along with it. This year at Fresno Christian many new staff members have arrived; including new middle school English teacher Kim Castro.
Castro is an experienced teacher who previously taught 8 years at Madera Unified teaching middle school and elementary. Castro attended Clovis West High School and went to college at Fresno State, where she obtained a degree in Liberal Arts and Education.
Castro reported that in her spare time she enjoys musical pursuits. She is involved in choir, instruments and worship team at her place of fellowship, Peoples Church.
“I love to read and write, play the piano and sing. I’m on worship team and in the choir here at Peoples Church. Worship leading is one of my passions. I also love exercise and being physically active,” Castro said. “I also have several favorite TV shows. I have enjoyed Seinfeld, ER, Downton Abbey, and The Office. I have several favorite movies. But I will say Steel Magnolias, and Sense and Sensibility are my favorites.”
I think Mrs. Castro plans her lessons well. She definitely knows her subject matter. She adds maturity and experience to our community. Her experiences teaching in other schools allows her to deal with issues that arise in Junior High. — Terry Richards, science teacher
Eighth grade student, Logan Lewis, who has been attending FCS since first grade, commented on Castro’s teaching.
“She is a phenomenal teacher because she is tons of fun,” Lewis said. “I think her best teaching skill is relating to the students and explaining the content well.”
Middle school science teacher, Terry Richards, who has been teaching at FCS since 1999 remarked on that Castro is well-organized and knows the subject well.

“I think Mrs. Castro plans her lessons well,” Richards said. “She definitely knows her subject matter. She adds maturity and experience to our community. Her experiences teaching in other schools allows her to deal with issues that arise in Junior High.”
When asked why Castro came to teach at FCS, she shared that she felt God has called her to the FC campus.
“I believe it was God’s plan,” Castro said. “The experience here has been fantastic, the staff has been so supportive and encouraging.”
Overall, Castro strives to leave her mark on FC through her work in the English department. She aims to not only educate her students, but leave a legacy.
