Among class staples like English and mathematics, campus teachers have put their heads together to create new options for student courses. The next school year offers some unique classes, never before offered in school history.
Japanese will be added as a foreign language and a Bible class, called peer counseling, will be opened to girls who wish to mentor a junior high student.
“I’m so psyched about taking Japanese!” Brianne Raymer, ’06, said. “I think it’s great that our school’s offering so many new classes. It gives me something to look forward to when I come back after summer break.”
Campus class registration began Mar. 30 as Principal Gary Schultz and Jon Endicott, vice principal, distributed registration forms to each student in their English class.
“We always need a lot time to prepare for the next year,” Endicott said. “Our job is organizing classrooms and making sure that the majority of students can take their desired classes. Mr. Schultz is truly a master of scheduling.”
Some students do not feel that two days is adequate time to completely plan their schedule for the upcoming year.
“”I don’t think that early class registrations are bad,” Damon O’Brien, ’05, said. “But I feel like we are pressured to decide our futures for next year in only a few minutes. Personally, I think that I need more time to consider my options.”
