AP Biology teacher, Karen Walters, and students travel to Shaver Lake and conduct study on the forest research site. With the severe drought in California, the water resource become precious for the residents. This study of the forest can help to determine what is the its ideal density.
With the help from Lynn Sullivan, representative from UC Merced, and Michelle Gilmore, researcher of Southern Sierra Critical Zone Observatory, students are able to conduct a throughly study of the relationship of the precipitation and the density of the forest.
