Dr. Samuel Hinton is considered a world changer in the eyes of Fresno Christian. Alumnus Dr. Samuel Hinton, ’92, went on to become a board-certified ophthalmologist and a partner at EYE-Q; specializing in cataract and LASIK surgeries. Hinton achieved his medical degree from Loma Linda University and went on to become chief resident at University of Louisville.
Trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life was a tough one. The hardest challenge I had in high school was trying to figure out how to stay close to God. High school is fun and it all worked out in the end. — Dr. Samuel Hinton
Hinton found that most of his success came from math classes and choir. He shares that these strengths were just something fun that he did all four years at Fresno Christian. Hinton shares some advice to current students, “Persevere and do the right thing because bad choices hang on but so do good choices.”
Like any other student Hinton had challenges to face, “Trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life was a tough one,” Hinton shares, “The hardest challenge I had in high school was trying to figure out how to stay close to God. High school is fun and it all worked out in the end.”
Hinton switched from Clark Junior High to Fresno Christian during the 1988-89 school year. Transitioning to FC allowed new sporting opportunities. Academically he enjoyed his classes and his relationship with the Lord grew. The influence from his father in the medical field helped Hinton decide to be a Ophthalmic surgeon. “Fresno Christian definitely helped me get to where I needed to be. It’s a great school.”
