After art teacher Sharon Scharf harvested and dried her own gourds, students are given the opportunity to practice gourd pyrography as the next project in their art class, May 3.
Using burning tools, such as the ones used for wood burning, students come up with their own designs which they draw with in pencil on the gourd first before burning.
This gourd pyrography unit lasts two weeks before Scharf moves on to the next project.
