FCS schools took monday off in honor of the accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr., Jan. 19.
MLK was the leader of civil rights movement. He was known for leading non violent protests including the bus boycott, the Selma march, and the march on Washington. King’s courage to successfully lead these protests led to the approval of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1968.
These two bills prompted the historical desegregation of the housing market and all public places. With this bill people of all skin colors would be given the platform to live equally, and in harmony with the rest of society.
