The love of a parent surpasses every boundary, but what if they cannot afford to support their children? What if a beloved child fell ill and their parents could not afford to pay for their care?
The campus leadership team recently participated in an annual citywide newspaper sale, known locally as Kids Day, on Mar. 15. The money from the papers sold across the city went to Children?s Hospital Central California to help parents pay for their kids who are staying there.
In the last five years, Children?s Hospital Central California has provided more than $101 million in aid to needy families.
In order to have a productive sale, the leadership team met in the early morning hours to locate an ideal spot for selling the papers.
?We met at 5:15 A.M. to reserve a spot that had not already been taken and that was also close to our school,? David Tusan, ?07, said. ?Our location helped boost our sales, just like we planned.?
Last year, 300 papers were sold by the leadership team. In addition, they managed to raise an extra hundred dollars from donations.
?Last year?s sale was good, but we hope to surpass it this year,? David Fujihara, ?08, said. ?We are just glad to have such a great opportunity to participate in this fundraising day to give a hand to those who are less fortunate.?
The volunteers found the experience of helping others a valuable influence on their personal characters.
?This experience gave me a lot to think about,? Ashley Davis, ?07, said. ? It makes me feel good inside to help those who are less fortunate than I am.?
Despite the early hours they put in, the volunteers did not regret the experience.
?You just don?t know how lucky you are until you hear about these kids in the hospital,? Samantha Krikorian, ?08, said. ?I appreciate being healthy, and I?m glad I don?t have to worry about something bad happening to me.?

I am disappointed in the picture selection …. Would you put a picture up of one of your Feather staffers with their eye looking like that? :o)
