The Eagles succeed in continuing to the state playoffs after winning in the CIF Central Section Championships against the Laton Mustangs, March 2.

Junior Stephan Melendez, center, played in the championship match and says that the Eagles have the ability to advance in the playoffs.

“I’m a little nervous and I think we can do this. If we keep our composure we will turn out fine,” Melendez said. “One of the main things is if we play selflessly. This way we will play as one and no other team can beat us.”

The varsity boys basketball team will next host the Holy Martyrs, the No. 9 seed, Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m.
