Luck is unexplainable. These experiences confound the human psyche, and create copious amounts of mystery throughout this field. Each person responds to this enigma in their own way. However, their is no wrong choice, because their is no physical proof to justify any decision made.
Let us first look at how we define luck. According to the Cambridge Dictionaries Online, luck is defined as “the force that causes things, especially good things, to happen to you by chance and not as a result of your own efforts or abilities:”. It is explained as something which is beyond the actions of humans, and that there is no control over its power.
So luck may not actually exist at all since it cannot be proven one way or the other. All which people can do is argue to the best of their ability of whether it is is real, or just a figment of their imagination. This is often done to solidify our insecurities so that the people around them see life the same way they do.
Thus let us begin the argument of luck. Because we cannot disprove it, we must take it into account into being a possibility. We look into the world and see things which don’t make sense. We see the “lucky people”. However are they really lucky, or is that just our perspective of them?
When watching a play, people see it oftentimes as a series of events which are connected perfectly, without mistakes. However those running the play, see the faults, and mistakes. Luck may just be a matter of perspective, everyone could encounter the same obstacles and just deal with them differently.
As for me, I believe that God gives man free will, and that there is such a thing as chance. However God also has control over what happens in our life. He knows every single thing which will happen. While it may be luck, it is our responsibility to take ownership of chance, and capitalize upon every circumstance which we face. It may not all have a purpose, yet he knows about it and will be watching over us through every obstacle and joy we face. –Joshua Carter
A difficult question to answer as no one is privy to every event and thought which occurs in another persons life. It is not luck that I was born in America and not in Africa, it just is. This is where God’s plan comes into play, if you believe in such a thing. People argue, about chance, and whether or not miracles exist. However what if things happened just because that is how life is? God knows that through adversity change arises. We see difficulties as getting unlucky.
Yet what if we changed our perspective to realizing that life is a series of obstacles and difficulties which shape and form us.
Let us take a step back, looking from the perspective of believing in a real and vibrant God. For arguments sake, let us assume that luck does not exist as God controls everything. But what if humanity has renamed what luck really is? Luck can just as likely be a series of events which are uncorrelated and happen to some people more than others.
We come from a fallen world; sin lies rampant throughout all of our lives. How can we judge something which cannot be proven through deduction and factual analysis, and then completely trust the information? No one can. So proving whether or not this thing such as luck really exists, is rather a pointless topic. All we can say from a Christian perspective is, “well the bible says that God has a plan for me, so luck does not exist”. Rather luck is just a series of chance occurrences which the feeble human mind turns into a way of dealing with life.
Instead accept the fact that luck cannot be proven either way. Let each person come to their own beliefs based off of emotional and oftentimes faith-based opinions. Many things in this world cannot be explained; argueing over petty matters is a fool when as the human race, we should be instead proving what really can be confirmed.
