At the Columbia Scholastic Press Association spring convention the Feather staff attended in New York, photo editor Kylie Bell was given the opportunity to teach a session at Columbia University. Her class consisted of the “Nuts and Bolts” of the program and what the photo team accomplishes on a daily basis to benefit the Feather. Bell taught step by step through the process of taking a photo and choosing the most visually pleasing picture for articles and yearbooks.
To show the daily life and process of what the team does and how they stay organized, a video was put together by photojournalist Jarrod Markarian. It contains the footage, from beginning to end, on how the staff stays on task and is successful in such a high pace environment.
This video will also be shown at the National Scholastic Press Association convention, April 16. Photo editor Kylie Bell will also be teaching the session sharing the workflow and essential tips of the Feather photojournalism team. Learn to choose the right gear, schedule your time, process, edit, and publish efficiently. Know how to maximize your time as photojournalists.
Check back in two weeks for a Feather lab walk through containing the Editors-in-chief. They will discuss the process and organization of running a successful digital newspaper.
