Homecoming week finished with a 13-12 Eagle victory over the Hawks of Liberty High at Clark Intermediate on Oct. 22.
Each class participated in constructing a float, the marching band performed their field show in between games and alumni reminisced about their high school days.
Weeks of anticipation pay off with the satisfaction of a job well done. Some classes spent over a month building and designing their float.
“Building the float was an amazing feat because our whole junior class bonded together,” Bethany Morton, ’06, said. “The entire class enjoyed the times spent in fellowship and construction. The memories will last forever.”
One of the biggest rewards of Homecoming is the return of alumni who travel back to Fresno to participate in Homecoming. At the game, some alumni came from schools located as far away as southern California.
“Going back felt weird, because now I am older,” alumnus Jon Tantraphol, ?03, said. “It’s great seeing how your underclassmen friends have grown up, meeting with teachers and watching home football games. Homecoming is an awesome experience that I miss now.”
In between the varsity and junior varsity games, the marching band performed a field show and played pep music for the varsity game.
“It was great getting to conduct a successful field show,” Karen Tolladay, ’05, said. “The band’s hard work paid off in the show in front of all the parents and student body.”
Much like other campuses, the student body elects a Homecoming king and queen. This year, Chris White, ’05, and Hillary Kell, ’05, won the contests and added to school spirit at the game.
“It was fun being king; the king pageant was the real highlight of Homecoming for me,” White said. “We’re all good friends and none of us had our hearts set on the crown.”
Prospective Homecoming princesses also participated in contests. These activities vividly promote more school spirit for underclassmen.
“Homecoming as a princess candidate is a lot of fun,” Erin Elmore, ’06, said. “You get to participate in interesting games, dress up, ride in cool cars and everyone is there supporting you.”
