The Jungle book (1967) has gone down in history as a Disney classic. This movie was recently remade and, though it has a few of the same aspects as the original film, it is very different from its predecessor in other areas. The movie centers around Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a boy who was raised by wolves in the jungle.
However, the story takes a turn for the worst when Shere Khan (Idris Elba), the tiger, vows to kill Mowgli, due to the fact that humans are not allowed to dwell with animals in the jungle. Mowgli flees, with the help of Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), the panther, to the nearest human village. But they are estranged when Shere Khan ambushes them leaving Mowgli to fend for himself. He moves through the forest where he encounters various animals including: Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), a giant snake, and Baloo (Bill Murray), a bear.
One of the best impressions that this movie left was the impact of the incredible visuals. The majority of this movie was computer-generated, instead of live or animated. This could have been a bad thing as computer-generated scenery has a tendency to look weird, when done incorrectly. However, the visuals in this movie were vibrant, clear and realistic.

I also admired the casting and acting in this movie, the actors were serious at the moments need, and hilarious at times. Most of the characters sounded similar to the original Disney film, which added some familiarity to the movie. Besides that, the voices just suited the characters, especially Bagheera, the panther.

Something that surprised me about this movie was the tone, which was definitely darker than the earlier animated Disney version. There are a number of death and fight scenes, not to mention several jump starts. Because of this, the film has taken a turn from kid-friendly and has become targeted to a more mature audience.
I enjoyed this movie a lot and it definitely exceeded my expectations. At the end of the movie I felt that I had gotten my money’s worth. Jungle Book is definitely the type of movie that I would go see again.
Though this movie is darker than the original it would still appeal to kids. I also believe that it would appeal to those who grew up watching or have seen the original Disney Jungle book movie, as it still retains many of the original characters and even some of the beloved songs. These factors combined make this movie very nostalgic, which is probably one of the reasons that it has earned so much success in the box office.
