As bags are packed with the last essentials and the final preparations are made, the anticipation of traveling builds. Three campus students will face this anticipation this summer as they venture to foreign countries.

Sophomore, Jessica Berg, will travel to Romania with her church and family on June 14-30.

To raise as much funds as possible, Berg and her church are conducting carwashes.

?I?m not letting this opportunity pass me by,? Berg said. ?We?re doing everything we possibly can to raise money for our group. We?re working by organizing carwashes and other fundraisers so everyone can have the opportunity to go.?

Likewise, Jordan Hogue, ?06, is raising funds to travel to Brazil beginning July 21 and finishing August 2.

?I?m selling candy bars so I won?t have to pay s much of my own money,? Hogue said. ?All my friends have really been supportive in buying them.?

The call to travel to Gambia has laid heavy on Corrine Pogue, ?06, for years.

?I will be traveling with Reign Ministries International on June 26 through August 10,? Pogue said. ?I picked Gambia because I feel like God?s been calling me to go there for the last four years.?

Pogue will experience a variety of ministry opportunities.

?While we?re there we?ll be doing street ministry through talking, drama and music,? Pogue said. ?We?re also bringing a bunch of Bibles over there and visiting some missionaries.?

Various methods of raising money have been employed by Pogue as well.

?To raise money, I?ve been working at Hume Lake Christian Camp doing food and guest services,? Pogue said. ?I also have been sending out support letters, talking to businesses and holding bake sales.?

And, although most plans are in order, obstacles still remain.

?I think the hardest thing about this trip will be the language barrier,? Hogue said. ?Even though we?ll have an interpreter, I wish I knew more of the language. I think I?ll buy one of those dictionaries and do some studying on the plane. I?m just really excited about getting the families connected to their local churches.?

As the long-awaited trip arrives, the more the excitement builds.

?I am most excited about actually going!? Pogue exclaimed. ?I?m excited to minister to the people in Gambia.?
