Civics teacher Robert Foshee leads students in the annual mock trial, Nov. 15.
Foshee has been teaching students the importance of the court for 10 years.
” Hands on learning is a fun way to teach the students the importance of the court and to be able to understand the complex system.” Foshee said. ” Having a mock trial involves students in a real life court situation.”
Seniors are given the opportunity to choose their own roles in the court, later deciding who will end up being guilty.
Sydney Belmont expects to take away a new perspective of what the judicial system looks like.
” When we started the trial, I chose to be one of the witnesses. It is very easy to get involved with the case.” Belmont said. ” I learned that it is important to know how a court case runs and to always tell the truth no matter what the outcome is.”
