Spanish III students travel to Toledo’s Mexican Restaurant for their midterm during third and fifth period, Nov. 15. Spanish teacher Rachel Rodriguez and her class enjoy Mexican cuisine as students practice their recently learned vocabulary.
This is the first year Spanish III test their skills in real life scenarios.
The class most recently studied restaurant phrases and terminology unit. Each student is assigned a question or greeting to say during their visit.
Spanish III student Stephen Walters, ’18, shares his opinion about the experience at the restaurant. It also helped him expand his Spanish vocabulary and confidence in speaking the language.
“I loved speaking Spanish at the restaurant, it was immersive and challenging,” Walters said. “It didn’t help grow my vocabulary, it merely helped me apply and remember what I have learned in years past. It was a comfortable experience, although awkward, it was still fun. I loved the food and opportunity to practice the Spanish I have learned. It benefited my ability to speak Spanish.”
Students are graded on how well they used Spanish vocabulary and grammar without speaking any English while at the restaurant.
