Tuesday’s chapel consists of a sermon about the value to serve those around us. Guest speaker, Pastor Coleman Diffenderfer from The Well Community Church in Kingsburg, challenges students to serve anyone around them who is in need, Jan. 9.
He spoke on the necessity to serve not only your friends and family, but also your enemies. Diffenderfer spoke to students, telling them they need to be a servant in order to show God’s love.
Sophomore Blake Burdan shares his opinion about the message and what he found meaningful in serving others.
“I believe that you should serve others, including those you don’t like,” Burdan said. “You have to be able to see people through Christ’s eyes as he loves everyone equally despite our differences. It’s easy to love people you like, but it takes humility, confidence and faith to love people you don’t like or relate with.”
He also spoke today in Christian Living. Instead of the topic servanthood, Diffenderfer talked about Christian perspective on nationalism, covering the class’s theme for the week.
