Hyatt shares philosophical view on Deism
[/media-credit] Robert Hyatt, FC director of technology, lectures on the beliefs of Deism, Jan. 23.

Director of technology Robert Hyatt speaks in Christian Living about the history behind Deism and the contrast between Christianity, Jan. 23.

This week’s topic is part of a multi-series focusing on different “-isms” within religions. The class has already covered other topics such as  Nationalism, Secularism and Naturalism.

Hyatt shares how Deism is a philosophical view of God that poses God as a creator who set the universe in motion and steps back, no longer in control. He is viewed a a clockmaker who forms his creation and lets it go.

In his lecture, Hyatt relates the key views of Deism and Christianity and the reasons they don’t align.

“The biggest problem of Deism is denial of original sin,” Hyatt said. “If we don’t have sin, we don’t need a Savior. If we don’t need a Savior, who needs Jesus?”

The class will continue to discuss other religions such as Marxism, Postmodernism, New Spirituality and Islam.

Thank you Robert Hyatt for visiting Christian Living and sharing your message!
