Andrea Donaghe takes CSF students on her fourth college trip, April 13. Donaghe chooses UC Davis, Stanford and Santa Clara University to visit based on student preference. A total of five students embark on this college trip, including one junior and four sophomores.
Sophomore Nicole Wagoner decides to take the opportunity to visit colleges to grasp an understanding what college life is about. Although she is interested in NYU, Wagoner is eager to visit California colleges.
“I’m always thinking about college, but I always feel a little lost,” Wagoner said. “So I’m hoping this trip will open my eyes to options and help me in deciding directions for classes next year. My school of choice would be NYU, and I know I want to get a doctorate in psychology and probably a minor in musical theatre. But I don’t know much else.
“I think it will open my mind to more options for college and point me in the right direction,” Wagoner continued. “I’m also very excited to spend time with my friends. Three of my best friends are coming on the trip so it will be nice to bond with them.”
After a tour at UC Davis, the group heads to Stanford University. During their tour, Darlene Franklin from KZSU Stanford 90.1 FM interviews sophomores Claire Palsgaard and Hannah Garcia. Franklin asks the girls a series of questions about touring the school.
UC Davis especially sparks Garcia’s interest as she considers it an option for college after high school.
“I wanted to be able to see what different college campuses look and feel like,” Garcia said. “I am looking forward to going to UC David because it is a school I am really interested in attending in the future.I think it will help me understand how a campus is set up and give me an insight on how a college student might go about there everyday life.”
To take a break from college tours, the group also takes a stop to enjoy a nice meal at Benihana’s restaurant and venture to Westfield Valley Fair Mall.
