Judges prepare to indulge in the sugary entires before them during the annual Home economics Cookie Bake Off, Oct. 24.

Earlier in the week, students divide into groups, deciding on a type of cookie to create to later be judged. Today, students in sixth period home economics, travel to the kitchen to begin the baking of their sugar-filled creations.

Students return back to the classroom, cookie tray in hand, and begin to assemble plates for the judges. Each plate consists of one cookie from each group. After the judge’s plates were complete, the class was allowed to try the cookies.

Director of technology, Robert Hyatt, Spanish teacher, Rachel Rodriguez, and Feather co-adviser, Greg Stobbe, judge the sixth period class competition. Each cookie is judged on shape, taste and a variety of other components.

The cookies included ‘Pecan Sandies’, ‘Cookie Cake-Pizookie’, ‘Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies’, ‘Maple Sugar Cookies’ and ‘Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bars’.

Seventh period will also get in on the fun tomorrow, Oct. 25, baking their cookies during block period.
