Boys basketball play their first preseason game against Firebaugh, Nov. 27. Varsity boys were defeated by, 67-53.

Boys basketball teams have been preparing for the season with summer conditioning and early morning practices. The team’s goal is to improve their record from last year with 12 wins and 16 losses.

The team has recently wrapped up try-outs with a total of 12 team members on varsity and 14 on junior varsity. Players strive to further their skills throughout the season as well as make it to the Valley Championship.

Head coach Jon Penberthy leads varsity boys basketball for the fifth straight year in a row. He is assisted by Mike Neal and Jason Saelzler. JV boys basketball is coached by alumni Caleb Nale, ‘14, and Cole Nale, ‘15.

The next game will be a home game against Coalinga, Dec. 4. JV will play at 4 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
