Home economics teacher Kimberly Bell’s 6th and 7th period sew together a Christmas stocking, Dec. 3.
Students choose a red or green pattern fabric to make into their own stocking. Bell demonstrates how to properly use a sewing machine and the correct way to place the stiching on the fabric.
The stocking will be used for their upcoming “Secret Santa” where classmates draw each others names to buy a gift for them, Dec. 11. They also partake in a re-gift exchange the same day.
For Christmas, students also work in groups to tie blankets together, assisted by Bell and senior Joshua Savage’s mother, Marylou Savage. The blankets are donated towards the three charities as followed: Healing Center, Rescue the Children and Evangel Home.
With the blankets, Marylou Savage and the students will pray over them before they are sent off, Dec. 5.
