The FC girls soccer team are looking to make a huge statement after finishing just short of a Valley Championship. Lead by head coach Matt Markarian the squad is ready for anything standing in front of them. They are looking to continue their success going into January once league starts. As of right now the lady eagles are 2-2 in their pre-season matchups.

I was able to sit and chat with junior Bekah Micu, ‘20 about FC soccer. Micu has been playing soccer since her freshman year and coming fresh off an injury she is determined to jump back into the swing of things. She explained to me what her injury specifically was and what doctors told her.
“Basically, my cerebellum was going into the top of my spine,” Micu said. “So it was clogging it up and I wasn’t getting the oxygen I needed to my brain so I would pass out when I ran. The doctors thought the surgery I had would be a sixty percent chance of actually helping it, but when they opened up my head they said it would be a hundred percent recovery and I should be back in January.”
The FC girls soccer squad had a non-conference game against San Joaquin Memorial, Dec. 11. It was a disappointing outcome for the girls with a loss against the panthers and was Micu’s first game back since her injury. Micu’s love for the game pushed her to get back onto the soccer pitch. She explained to me what was going through her mind playing again and how she felt.
“I was super excited just to be back on the field again,” said Micu. “I’m really out of shape and at first I started off a little nervous and cautious because I didn’t know how it would play out but then my adrenaline just went and I didn’t really care anymore.”
The lady eagles next game is against Dos Palos High School, Dec. 17. Make sure to go out and support your FC girls as they fight to get back to the Valley Championship.
