Campus parent Scott Rurik shares his testimony during the monthly prayer group meeting for dads called Shoulder to Shoulder, Jan. 16.
The Shoulder to Shoulder prayer group previously met on the second Wednesday of every month but has switched meeting times to the third Wednesday of the month at the start of the new semester.
Each gathering begins at 6:30 a.m. and allows time for fathers to encourage each other and spend time praying for one another.
Another FC parent, Paul Loeffler, local sports director and voice of the Fresno State Bulldogs and Hometown Heroes Radio talkshow host, has led these prayer meetings ever since they started at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year. The gatherings also provide a place for fathers to connect with one another and grow together in their walk with Christ.
Loeffler shares his heart behind creating Shoulder to Shoulder prayer group.
“Being around Fresno Christian for so long, I have always enjoyed connecting with other dads at events,” Loeffler said. “Fathers can find themselves under a lot of pressure at work and at home. This monthly gathering reminds us of how much we have in common, and that we’re there for each other. Often the most impactful growth occurs in relationship and in community. I think these meetings allow us to realize that we’re in this together.”
Shoulder to Shoulder will be meeting again in Room 603 at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
