As Feather staffers continue to push through competition season, advisers Kori Friesen and Greg Stobbe discuss and break down previously received critiques during an early morning meeting, Jan. 17.
With Feather JEA/NSPA Anaheim journalism trip approaching, staffers takes on new projects and challenges for the semester. A total group of 23 staffers, accompanied by Friesen and Stobbe, will be traveling to Anaheim to attend the NSPA conference, April 23-27.
Editors and advisers plan on teaching several sessions at the conference. Editor in chiefs will talk on the subject of the role of their editorial position, as well as elements of an award-winning team. Photojournalism editors will cover tips and tricks to utilize Instagram, social media, and capturing the audience’s attention with an image. Video journalism editors will teach on quality and quantity of producing videos. Utilizing Twitter as a major tool is another topic proposal.
The rest of the crew will be staying behind in Fresno to run home base, publishing from two locations. While staffers in Anaheim will be publishing daily, members at Fresno Christian will be posting as well.
Trip attendees plan on enjoying several local activities, including behind the scenes tour of Warner Bros and ABC 7, bowling and spending time in Downtown Disney District.
For the first time in approximately 20 years, The Feather will not be attending CSPA Spring Conference in New York.
