International students Bonnie Yang, ’19, Emily Ou, ’19, and Serena Zhao, ’20, help lead in the planning of this year’s Chinese New Year celebration at FCS, Jan. 25. The students plan on having activities during lunch to share Chinese culture with fellow American students, Feb. 5.
The girls have been working with high school student leadership and international advisor Brooke Stobbe to plan the upcoming festivities. All students are encouraged to wear red in support of the holiday, as the color red symbolizes good fortune and blessings for the new year in the Chinese culture.
Some of the activities include learning to use chopsticks, writing Chinese characters, along with a slide show explaining what Chinese New Year celebrates. This is an opportunity for the Fresno Christian students and staff to learn from and connect with our international students on campus.
More information about the event and what lunch will be served that day are still to come. Stay tuned to the Feather for updates.
