Sophomores in English 10 present their quilt projects to classmates and explain the reason for the construction of the quilt, Jan. 30.
Students were assigned to create a 3×3 paper quilt with important aspects of their life. A description with a quote was included on the back of the quilt. They were given a week to plan and complete this assignment.
English teacher, Andrea Donaghe, shares the importance of this project and the reason for continuing this project year after year.
“I continue to do this project every year because this project integrates well with the novel, The House on Mango Street,” Donaghe said. “The book gives a glimpse about the life of the main character, Esperanza, which is what this project does for my students. My favorite part of this project is seeing what is important in my student’s life.”
