After battling for almost five hours, Eagles defeat Firebaugh, 6-3, in the semifinals of CIF Central Section Division V team playoffs, May 2. This victory sends FC boys tennis into the Valley championship for the second year in a row!
Concluding singles matches tied at, 3-3, doubles had to bring home the win. No. 1 doubles duo, Alexander Rurik, ’19, and John Monke, ’19, secure the first victory, leaving the team in need of one more (6-4, 6-4).
No. 2 doubles, Reese Brown, ’19, and Mark Pimentel, ’21, and No. 3 doubles, Kyle Clem, ’21, and Logan Lewis, ’20, both defeated Firebaugh. At the end of the day, FC clinched all three doubles matches.
Come out to support the Eagles as the No. 1 seed as they host No. 2 seed Caruthers for the Valley championship, May 7. Match play begins at 3:30 p.m. on the FC courts. Bring a lawn chair, a water and a friend to cheer on the home team.
