At the end of every school year, students look forward to two things; summer break and the yearbook.
This year Molly Sargent, yearbook adviser, and computer teachers Chris Schultz and CJ Haydock, will combine staffs to create a new tradition known as the video yearbook.
“The video yearbook consist of pictures that don?t go into the yearbook,” Ashley Davis, ’07, staff member said. “It?s a good idea because all those picture will not go to waste and people who aren?t in the yearbook as much still have an opportunity to be seen.”
This is the first time the campus plans to issue these videos. The hardcover yearbook is published at Jostens Picture Company, which inspired the idea for the photo clips.
“We’ve been practicing making CDs in computer class,” Julio Ibarra, ’10, said. “It?s been fun to make and it’s going to be really cool once it’s all done, but I still personally prefer an actual yearbook.”
Since the computer and yearbook class are creating this project together, both have different assignments. Yearbook provides the pictures, while computer films students, gets quotes and assemble the video clip. In addition, every senior is required to make and submit a video clip of their own.
“I do not think it’s going to be to hard to make,” Natalie McCallum, ’09, said. “All we really need to do filter out some pictures and choose music.”
The video yearbook is a 10-15 minutes long and will be shown at the end of the year in chapel. They can be purchased for $10.
“I think it?s a really smart idea to use up all the extra pictures,” Lorin Weskamp, ’08, said. “Its always really fun to look at silly pictures from the school year and with the video its going to give even more picture to look at, so I’m excited.”
