Campus students purchase Valentine’s Day gifts for family, friends, classmates
For the past 20 years, middle school teacher and director of the CJSF team Hallie Rojeski has been selling candy grams to raise funds for community groups. This year, proceeds will fund the purchase of books and school supplies for students at Pinedale Elementary School.
Candy gram purchases can be made at lunch for $1. CJSF members occupy a table in the PC gym with order forms to fill out with a handwritten note. The slips can be turned in to the high school office, Rojeski or middle school students collecting forms at lunch.
CJSF members assemble the candy grams with multiple types of candies and a heart-shaped note, Feb. 12-13. CJSF members pass around the finished candy grams during lunch on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
In the following podcast, freshman Shane Phillips interviews CJSF secretary Jenna Obwald, ’24, who shares how the organization helps her connect to the school and community.
Jenna Obwald, ’24, contributes by selling candy grams at lunch while planning to purchase some for her friends.
“I am in CJSF because it’s a cool way to serve the community,” Obwald said. “And it helps our school by helping raise money for other smaller schools. We are selling candy grams to raise money for all the things we do in CJSF and it’s a fun way for you to wish your friends a happy Valentine’s Day.”

Rojeski shares the beginnings of the selling of candy grams at FC. Terry Edmonds, former campus history and English teacher, suggested the idea to Rojeski about 20 years ago.
“Maybe 19 or 20 years we have been selling candy grams,” Rojeski said. “When Terry Edmonds came and was the seventh and eighth grade world history and English teacher, she was familiar with it. I can’t remember exactly what we had done, but we had done something around that time for Valentine’s Day. And she suggested this.”
The deadline to purchase a candy gram for family, friends or classmates ends Feb. 12. Make sure to buy a gram before orders close!
