Behind the scenes look at a new video series called, To Be known, created by Feather video journalist Micah Friesen, ’23 and Carson Imbrie, ’22.
This new series highlights the personal lives of students on campus with video footage taken off campus combined with personal interviews.
Due to many COVID regulations and limitations, FC Underground which is traditionally brought to students weekly has ceased. With no school events and regular announcements, content for the broadcast series is challenging.
The aim for To Be Known is two fold. This year’s brand new video duo needs regular filming experience to learn many skills as well as offering opportunity to students to share and connect. Carson Imbrie expected the filming process to be pretty simple.
“I was blown away by just how many details we had to think about,” Imbrie said. Two camera angles, multiple audio sources, lights, synchronizing camera’s, room noise and the actual filming. I learning a lot in just one experience. ”
Junior Derek DeGroot who is this year’s current chaplain allowed cameras into his life. Following him around on the family dairy allows Imbrie to see his world. Wrapping up the video with a personal interview with adviser Kori James, opens a vulnerable side sharing about a time of grief that he overcame.
