San Joaquin Valley Town Hall hosts travel icon, Rick Steves, who shares his best travel tips, encounters and personal stories with the local community, March 16. Steves is among a very short list of repeat speakers for the organization.

Steves has a wide audience, but is mainly targeted towards Americans planning a European vacation. Even though the younger generation may not have as many resources as adults to travel, Steves encourages teens to travel in between college and career when they have time and money.

Having recently traveled to Europe with my family the summer of 2021, I was excited to hear that Rick Steves was coming to Fresno. His guide book, ‘Rick Steves, The Best of Europe’, helped guide us through the streets of Rome, the hills of the Swiss alps, foreign airports, famous museums and more. I even thought I saw him in the train station as we were leaving London.

On our once in a lifetime trip, we traveled to six countries, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy. In preparation for the trip, my dad, Koby Johns, read and watched Rick Steves guided tours to help decide where to go and what to plan for. I think we can confidently say that if we didn’t listen to Rick Steves, our trip wouldn’t have been as enjoyable.

Rick Steves has over 25,000 people signed up for around 1,000 adventurous tours. Steves doesn’t care about how much he receives, rather his profit is how many lives he has impacted.
