Remember when The Fresno Chaffee Zoo used to be your top pick for Saturday family adventures? For many, the zoo was a favorite school field trip or a fun place for friend outings, but it may have lost its luster over time.
On a recent trip to The Fresno Chaffee Zoo, I remembered the nostalgia from my childhood and discovered new exhibits, such as African Adventure and Sea Lion Cove.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo dedicates itself to influencing the community’s care for animals and fostering connections by introducing new exhibits, alongside the exciting new additions to The African Adventure exhibit.
Visitors are now eager to see the two new African Elephants, Thando and Davu, born August 16, 2024. This now serves as a prominent attraction at the zoo. Among these popular babies are two baby meerkats, Kiazi and Djambi, and two lion cubs.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo opened its newest attraction Kingdom of Asia, June 3, 2025, transforming a space to mimic the sights of Southeast Asia, while adding exhibits for 10 of the 200 various species spread throughout the zoo. Dara, the female Malayan tiger, became a fan favorite and a new edition of The Kingdom of Asia after being transferred from The Tulsa Zoo.
While the zoo continues to remodel and expand, its holiday spectacular, illuminature, grows yearly. Highlighting specific attractions from November through February, these Chinese lanterns turn on at 5 p.m. and create a new experience for visitors to see and enjoy.
