Though winter sports are still in session, it is never too early for spring sports to start prepping. The Fresno Christian Varsity Baseball team’s 2025 season is in full swing with new faces and a new style. As of last year, the boys were 11-18 overall and 4-9 in league. For the past 14 years, head coach and science teacher, Noah Heinz, has been the team’s main man, but this year Heinz is passing on his position to Aaron Penberthy. After-school practices have already been put into place to prepare for this upcoming season.
Penberthy will maintain his position as head basketball coach for Kastner Middle School, alongside his new opportunity to lead the FC baseball team. His ambitions are to build the team on biblical morals.
“The only goal is just to honor and glorify Christ using their talents gifted to them, outside of that we’re nothing,” Penberthy said. “I don’t know if we’re good or bad yet.”
Along with promising leadership, exciting upgrades are headed the Eagles’ way for the 2025 season. The baseball logo will be revamped along with three new uniform designs, all of which will debut during the coming months.
As for athlete leadership, team captains are still undecided, however, seniors are already rising to the occasion in preseason. The class of 2025 baseball players include: Dylan Fittro, Lucas Adanalian, Owen Gainer, Joshua Kubota, Theron Myers, Tristan Davis and Henry Feistel.
Adanalian has played baseball since he was a toddler in T-Ball. He has been a part of the FC Varsity Baseball team all four years despite impositions along the way. During the end of his junior season, Adanalian sustained a facial injury from a wayward baseball which benched him for their first playoff game. The Eagles experienced an early elimination in the playoffs, but hold out hope for the coming season.
“I’m thrilled to begin this baseball season,” Adanalian said. “Every season has brought valuable lessons in perseverance, teamwork, and leadership, and I’m eager to use that experience to help our team reach new heights this year.”
Fresh talent this year includes Elijah Corrao, ’28, who is ready to put in the work to grow in his sport.
“I am excited to catch fly balls in outfield, get better at hitting and am so grateful I get to play on this team,” Corrao said.
The team’s first league game will be at home against Liberty High School.
