The Fresno Christian Choir presents its annual fall concert led by choir director Susan Ainley and pianist Ben Certain, October 13. Held in the GL Johnson Chapel, the choir performs “Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name of the Lord” for friends and family. The concert showcased the Junior High School Choir, Women’s and Men’s Ensembles, along with the Concert Choir.
The night began with the Junior High School Choir, showcasing their musical talents in two songs: “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho” and “O Sing to the Lord.”
Following this, the men’s ensemble sang two selections. They performed “J’entends le Moulin’’ meaning “I Hear the Windmill” and “Salvation is Created.”
Senior Bella Barrett, ‘26, performed a solo, “We Shall Meet at the River.” Barrett performed this song to the audience in preparation for her upcoming audition.
Barrett, a women’s ensemble member, has a great passion for singing and has been a part of Fresno Christian’s choirs for 13 years.
“I’m always nervous before and after performing, but once I get on the stage, all the fear goes away, and I’m calm.” Barrett said. “My favorite part is getting to hear all the groups perform for the first time of the year, to see our starting point.”
Following Barrett’s solo, the women’s ensemble sang two selections to the audience, “Benedictus” and “Lineage.” During “Lineage,” the singers held hands to represent family bonds and honor the hard work of past generations.
The concert concluded with the Concert Choir, singing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”
Mark your calendars for Dec. 15 when the FCS Choir performs its annual Christmas Concert.
