Christmas is one of the most anticipated times for students. Three weeks of no school or homework.
Many people travel as a Christmas tradition, but some stay at home and gather with their families around the Christmas tree.
Junior varsity football player Justin Wilson, ?11, is spending a week and a half at the beach with his family like he does every year as a holiday tradition .
?My grandparents, my cousins and my aunt and uncle and me are going to a beach house,? Wilson said. ?I?m really looking forward to the trip because the house we are staying at is right on the beach.?
Then with only a day at home, Wilson will travel again to visit more of his family in the middle of the state.
?I will be spending Christmas Eve with my grandparents in Sacramento,? Wilson said, ?and on Christmas Day, I?m coming back home and having my family over.?
Junior varsity cheerleader Kory Thompson is spending the first two weeks of her vacation with some of her best friends.
?Over Christmas vacation, I?m hanging out with my friends and going on a cruise with my friends Ashley and Austin (Ward, ?11) and their family, Stowe (Empereur, ?11) and his family and Stephen (Grimes, ?11),? Thompson said. ?I?m really excited because it?s going to be a lot of fun.?
Thompson has her vacation all planned, whether it?s hanging out with friends or annoying her brother.
?I?m really excited about this vacation because I get to hang out with my best friend and there won?t be any drama,? Thompson said, ?plus I get to make my brother mad by hanging out with boys.?
Christmas vacation is one of Thompson?s favorite times of the year.
?I love this time of year,? Thompson said, ?because there is no school or homework. I have the chance to relax.?
On Christmas Eve Thompson will be spending time with her niece and nephew.
?I?m looking forward to being with more family,? Thompson said. ?We are all going to open presents on Christmas Day. I?m going to my grandma?s house to eat a lot, open her gifts and then we open our Santa Claus gifts.?
Not only do students get three weeks off, but teachers do too.
Bible teacher Tom McEntee is starting his vacation by spending a week in an RV with his family.
?For the first part of my vacation,? McEntee said, ?I?m going to Joshua Tree National Park, which is near Palm Springs. RV?s are a great way to travel with family.?
McEntee enjoys time off when the weather is cold because it helps him spend time with his family.
?The best time to have off is when it’s cool outside,? McEntee said, “because we huddle around a fire and have a lot of family fun.?
