Feather Advisor Koir James and Media Editor Selah Neal join renowned radio host Christopher Gabriel on KMJ Now for Women’s History Month, March 14.
James and Neal met Gabriel on Central Valley Honor Flight #33 in October 2025. On this trip, the group quickly bonded and enjoyed capturing the emotional journey to Washington, D.C. After the trip, James and Neal went on KMJ Now to recount and discuss the Honor Flight. Now, Gabriel invites the two back on the show for a local look into Women’s History Month.
In this podcast, Gabriel recognizes James and Neal for doing remarkable things in and outside the classroom, especially in education, media and storytelling. Their work captures stories and preserves meaningful experiences. The episode ties into Women’s History Month by showing that young women like Neal are already making a difference. Neal continues to pursue her passion for sports media, recounting photographing the 2024-25 Fresno Christian boys basketball season with her friend Tabitha Peters.

James highlights women in her own life and community as her biggest influences, like Dr. Marilyn Shepherd. Shepherd has served as superintendent for multiple school districts. She has also been a mentor to James; they consistently share time and talk about a multitude of topics. Gabriel emphasizes that Women’s History Month does not mean you need to look up to someone from 50 years ago; you can look up to someone in the now like how Neal looks up to James.
