When home alone after a day at school or extended music/sports practice, you may find yourself in a hungry predicament with a rumble in your tummy.
Don’t sweat it! For a quick fix, an easy, cheesy and delicious dinner is possible in a matter of minutes.
A grilled cheese is one of the simplest dinner options. A perfect grilled cheese requires only a handful of ingredients: bread, butter or margarine and cheese. To add a healthy kick or to personalize the flavor, add meat, such as sliced turkey or ham.
Start off by buttering one side of each slice of bread. Place them butter-side down in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Follow up by placing cheese on each side of bread. Any kind of cheese is acceptable according to your own taste, from American to cheddar. Let stand for five minutes or until the cheese is a little melted.
If you want to add meat, place the slice of turkey or ham on top of the cheese at this time. Then place one side of the bread on top of the other side. After the cook time, the bread should be a golden brown and crunchy.
Take the sandwich off the burner, let stand for about a minute to cool and enjoy.
To add to your quick meal, slice up an apple or a few grapes and a small serving of Sun Chips and viola, a healthy meal perfect for any time of day!
