Families and students will reconvene under the Friday night lights for the first football game against Stone Ridge Christian at Clark Intermediate, Sept. 11, in Clovis.
The game, which will include only the varsity team, will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until about 9:15. The junior varsity team will play at San Joaquin Memorial at 7 p.m., Sept. 10.
Football coach Robert Foshee said he hopes to attract a large audience to the game.
“It’s going to be an exciting first game,” Foshee said. “Everyone can come and celebrate what God has done with the school athletically.”
The game will also pit Mick Fuller, the head football coach and athletic director at Stone Ridge, against Foshee. The two coached alongside each other for five years on campus until this year.
“I did offense and he [Fuller] did defense, so we’ll see who knows each other better,” Foshee said. “But it’s going to be fun no matter what happens.”
First 5th Quarter
Following the game, students are invited to attend the first 5th Quarter event at Luna Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant, located on 349 Pollasky Ave. in Clovis. (Click here for directions.)
The cost to enter is $7 which pays for a buffet of pizza, pasta, salad and drinks. The evident will last until about 11 p.m.
This is the first of three 5th Quarters planned by the student leadership social events committee.
“The purpose of the 5th Quarter is to get students to come to the game,” senior Kristina Logan, social events committee member, said. “It’s kind of like the Nut House that transfers over to an after-game event. It’s also a time when we can congratulate the team.”
The second 5th Quarter will occur in mid-October and the third will be held on senior night, Oct. 30, according to Logan.
