Some girls get up early to pick out the perfect set of clothes, style their hair and put on make-up while others simply slop on some gel.
As the line gets shorter, anticipation grows as students worry, will I sneeze? will I smile crooked? Have I developed new pimples? This is the yearly drama of picture day.
This year’s picture day will be held Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to noon. Milne Photography will photograph seventh graders through high school juniors for the yearbook and student ID cards. Picture packages can be purchased for $20-80.
While the impact of a yearbook snapshot may not seem widespread, many students take the “photo op” seriously.
“I don’t care that much about picture day,” Sara Visciglio, ’11, said. “But I don’t want to look gross so I put a little time into my appearance. You should take the picture, though, because many people keep their yearbooks and it’s a great way for people to remember you by.”
However, other students reject picture day as unimportant.
“No one remembers the pictures in the yearbook, only the autographs,” Tyler Zaentz, ’12, said. “They know what you look like in real life and it doesn’t matter if it’s a good or bad picture.”
