As an educator and parent at Fresno Christian Junior High and High School, I have so much for which to be grateful. After more than 20 years in the field of education, it is exciting to discover a school system that is truly focused on what is best for students and to have my own children be part of it.
Fresno Christian Schools take the goal of educating each child in mind, body and spirit to a higher level. With the focus on biblical foundations and service in Christ, as well as high academic standards, there is a positive atmosphere that I have never experienced at any other school where I have worked.
Each teacher is dedicated to providing an exemplary academic experience for students, while keeping focused on guiding students in their personal journey with Jesus Christ.
The decision to bring my own children here was a simple one. After meeting the teachers last summer, I would come home and tell my family about their dedication to each child, and the how constant, daily prayer helps keep them focused.
My wife and I knew that a small school, where all teachers are dedicated to the students and the Lord, rather than some personal agenda, would be the best place for our son, Mark, an eighth grader.
My son’s passion is making films. FC’s video production classes, led by Mr. (Scott) Callisch, provide Mark with a creative outlet and an opportunity for success that he was never offered in the public school system.
Our daughter, Katherine, a freshman, was very involved in swimming and water polo, and was looking forward to competing at Clovis West. Since Fresno Christian does not offer these sports, we let her make the decision. We told her to pray for guidance.
About three days before school started, Katherine came to us and said that the Lord was guiding her here. She decided to sacrifice her sports and leave a situation where she was comfortable and successful for the unknown. Her experience here couldn’t be better.
Katherine was a cheerleader in 6th grade, but because of the unwholesome atmosphere and provocative choreography at the junior high and high school level, we did not allow her to participate beyond elementary school. She is excited to be able to participate once again as one of the three mid-season additions to the squad.
The biblical foundations taught through the science and Bible courses, as well as daily prayer and theological discussions in an open secure atmosphere, are helping my children discover and strengthen their personal relationship with Christ.
As a family, we thank God every day that he has brought us to Fresno Christian.
