As the football season commences, student leadership has planned a blackout rally to introduce this year’s varsity athletes. The rally will be held Sept. 9 in the FC Gym to pump up students before the kickoff of this year’s first home football game later that day.
Rally commissioner Kristen Rosenthal, ’13, has creatively originated the theme and preparations for the rally entitled Neon: Standout. Her desire is to energize the student body in preparation for the football game.
“I hope that this rally will pump up and excite the student body for this season’s football games,” Rosenthal said. “This theme will be upbeat and give a game-like feeling of energy.”
With the buzz of this year’s first rally, many students — such as Cooper Belmont, ’12 — are eager to get involved and support their friends and fellow classmates.
“I am excited about the rally mainly because of the neon theme; the blackout rallies get everyone pumped with all the lights, music and action,” Belmont said. “I’m especially excited about the music part because I get to DJ the rally and play music for my friends.”
Student leadership adviser Jane Gillespie anticipates a rally which will motivate an enthusiastic audience not only for the football season, but also for the classroom.
“Im really excited for the first rally to get people fired up for football as well as school.” Gillespie said. “I think it will be a really fun rally, but people need to come with a good attitude to make the best of it.”
The rally will occur after eighth period following a rally schedule. Students are encouraged to wear neon colors according to their class:
Seniors: Green
Juniors: Pink
Sophomores: Orange
Freshmen: Blue
