Instead of presenting a typical musical performance, the Jazz Band and Adoration Ensemble will provide a dessert concert at 7 p.m. in Ground Zero, Nov. 1.
Desserts will include food and refreshments available at the back, as well as a silent auction. All proceeds go to support the music department.
As this is Jazz Band’s first performance, junior Raine Hayes views the evening as an opportunity to prepare for future festivals.
“I think we’ll do pretty well,” Hayes said. “Jazz Band has been working hard, especially the past two weeks, to get things fine-tuned for tonight. I think it’ll give us an idea of how the audience will react toward songs, and what parts we need to fix.”
Jazz Band will open the evening with five songs, then Adoration Ensemble will perform another four.
“It’ll be fun because there’s lots of things to be doing, like bidding on desserts while we’re singing, and we bring the desserts to them,” ensemble member Zed Fries, ’12, said. “The combination of yummy desserts and music adds a delightful tone to the average concert.”
