Dear editor:
In the recent drama production, A Christmas Carol, I played the role of Fred, Scrooge’s nephew. He joyously enters Scrooge’s office on the evening of Christmas Eve, and vigorously urges Scrooge to join the family for dinner. However, Scrooge rejects the invitation and continues to work in an anti-Christmas spirit.
I greatly enjoyed performing this play because it provided audiences with the theme of giving throughout the Christmas season. Fred’s merry and cheerful character proved a challenge for me because I needed to mentally picture myself as the character in order to make my performance appear believable. This role allowed me to express my own daily, lighthearted personality within the character.
This is my first semester in drama and I have loved it, because each day I am allowed to be loud and entertain fellow peers with various goofy voices. Our teacher, Miss [Brianne] Vogt does an excellent job in preparing us to perform onstage with multiple games and exercises in class. I also love the atmosphere of the class, as I have met new people of different grades who also enjoy laughter and acting hyper.
