BRIEF: Emergency lockdown resolved

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Matt Markarian, a Peoples Church staff member, informed campus offices that a disgruntled parishioner had called the church and threatened to come to the campus with a gun, Feb. 14.

The Peoples custodial staff locked down all the buildings, and FCS personnel informed all coaches and athletes in after-school programs to report to a locked, indoor location or to leave campus.

According to Principal Todd Bennett, the police reported to Peoples Church and investigated the threat. The parishioner never arrived at the Peoples Church campus.

At about 5 p.m., Bennett was informed that the campus was safe from imminent danger, and the lockdown was lifted.

“I am so impressed with the way the Peoples Church staff and FCS staff worked together to ensure the safety of our students,” Bennett said. “I am thankful that both organizations had established procedures in place.”

On Feb. 15, as an extra precaution, all staff members were sent a picture of the suspect and reminded of emergency procedures. The students on campus were not in danger at any time that day.
