As an annual tradition in the freshman English classes, teacher Greg Stobbe and his students roam throughout the campus performing “Beasts of England” from George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
During early April each year, the students can be seen belting out the lyrics in classrooms, offices and hallways.
The novella, first published in 1945, explores the ramifications of communism through an allegory involving the animals at a British farm.
The characters sing “Beasts of England,” as well as a few other anthems, repeatedly throughout the story.
