EAGLES SCRIMMAGE OROSI–Aug. 26
For the first scrimmage of the Eagles’ 2011 season, they faced off against the Orosi Cardinals, Aug. 26.
Starting quarterback for FC, Tyler Krigbaum, ’12, who had four completions says despite the fact they only have 22 players they were able to step up to Orosi’s level.
“With the amount of players we have and that we don’t have that much of a practice squad, I think we did pretty well,” Krigbaum said. “We all played pretty well and our defense definitely stepped up.”
Next up on the schedule is Mendota who is a physical and audacious team according to Krigbaum.
“For Mendota we just need to practice physicality and just be more aggressive than them because we were told they were a really aggressive team,” Krigbaum said.
Although no score was kept in the game, Orosi only scored one touchdown on a long ball to the corner of the end zone in their final offensive series. However, FC was unable to make it in for a touchdown.
Head coach Dan Stockton feels that his team played a fine game as Orosi was one of the best teams they will play in their upcoming season.
“The first series we played real well on offense and defense and then we had a couple kids get hurt and from there it was a struggle,” Stockton said. “I really thought they were a good team and as good as we’ll see until we get to Fowler and Caruthers. As far as the team goes, we got a lot of work to do, but we got a lot of great kids and if they’re willing to do it I think we’re gonna get there.”
FC will next travel to play Mendota, Aug. 26.
