PARLIER TOPS EAGLES, 49-7–Oct. 28
The Eagles hosted the Parlier Panthers for their third league game of the season, Oct. 28. After coming off of a 41-0 loss to Fowler, FC had the chance to move up to 2-1 in league, but the Panthers had other plans in mind as they won, 49-7.
FC’s offense struggled as after the Panthers received the ball first and marched down the field to tack on seven, FC took the ball, but was out in three plays. Parlier continued to take control as they had 260 total yards receiving and 234 yards total rushing.
Senior linebacker Mitch Weibert, says since they had not spent enough time in practice on what Parlier’s passing game would look like, the Panthers exploited this weakness.
“We shut down the threats that we had prepared for in practice,” Weibert said, “but what we didn’t really spend much time on was the passing game and that’s what hurt us.”
Although FC had problems on the defensive side, Lorenzo Hyde, ’13, says the main issue was there offense.
“I felt we could’ve done more as a team and practiced more especially on offense as we only scored one touchdown,” Hyde. “I think we need to spend more time on film and learn more of what they’re plays are going to be so we can be familiar with their defense and offense.”
FC’s only points resulted from a 92-yard kick-off return for touchdown by Austin Rurik.
Head coach Dan Stockton feels they need to move on from the loss and set their eyes on their next game against Caruthers, Nov. 4.
“We can’t change the loss to Parlier, but we definitely can compete against Caruthers because they’re an interior team on offense, but also have a good defense,” Stockton said. “So we need to have a few key run plays, but also throw the ball a lot to spread them out.”
FC stats currently unavailable.
The Eagles will next travel to play Caruthers, Nov. 4.

I thought Hunter might not want to continue as Water Boy since he’s playing soccer AND football, but oh no…not even a consideration. THAT is his JOB!
